An Announcement:
It is with a mixture of sadness and joy that we notify you of the retirement of one of our providers.
Katie Rutherford, WHNP, has been an integral part of Women's Health Center since its inception eleven years ago. She, along with Dr. Raymond Gambrill and Dr. Richard Battey, established Women's Health Center with the vision to become the premiere women's health facility in the Rogue Valley. Thanks in part to her hard work and dedication, that vision became a reality.
Over the years, Katie has shared her wealth of experience, knowledge, and compassion with her patients, for which we will always be grateful. However, the time has come for Katie to step back and spend time with her husband, sons, and grandchildren.
Katie's last day at Women's Health Center will be December 23, 2009. If any of you have had the joy of having Katie as your provider over the years, you know that she will be missed. she has left an indelible mark on the staff and physicians here and, we are certain, on you as a patient too.
Please join us in wishing Katie the best in this next phase of her life.
We're hearing wedding bells...
September 26, 2009 was a very special day for one of our staff members.
Kristina Ramos, from our Registration & Check-In department, was wed to Misael Espinoza at the Kingdom Hall here in Grants Pass. Then, everyone hit the road for a wonderful reception in Crescent City. Kristina and Misael love the ocean, and their reception site was picked because that is where Misael proposed. How romantic!
We hope you will join us in wishing Kristina and Misael the best!

Camping with the WHCSO Crew
July 17-19 found several WHCSO staff families at Stewart State Park Campground, Lost Creek Lake, for a weekend of fun, sun, and food. Five WHCSO families got together in 3 campsites to share the weekend.
As you can see below, the kids stole the show! It was truly a family affair with 5 kids, 5 teenagers, 5 dogs (do you see a pattern here?) and 10 adults present. We had so much fun that we're hoping to make this an annual event.

Rock & Roll and... Running?
On June 27, 2009 Laura from of our Triage department, participated in the Seattle Rock & Roll Marathon. The event featured a full marathon with several bands playing along the course route. This was Laura's first full marathon (she completed a half-marathon earlier this year). This is an amazing achievement and we are all very proud of Laura's drive and determination.

Relay For Life 2009 "Peace, Love, and a Cure"
This year's Relay for Life event was held at North Valley High School June 13th & 14th. The staff of Women's Health Center was excited to particpate again. We were set to rock all night long with our '70's themed booth, complete with tie-dye, black lights, and Rock Band. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperative! Due to heavy rain and impending thunder storms, the event was called off Saturday night around 7pm.
